Mai's Winter Coat

Another drawing exercise. These are better than doing nothing or trying to rush through a commission or project. I need to flex my muscles both creatively to get the mojo running.

I remember drawing Mai Ling (my sly cooper cat OC) in different outfits. One of them was a winter outfit. And I remember it was my favorite of her outfits. She looked so cozy and cute in it.
And it made her look a bit Inuit in the process. See; Mai is half Japanese and half Mandarin. So she pretty much is a culmination of Asian heritages. I think Vulcan Raven once said Inuit and Japanese are distant relatives to one another. (I believe it....)

And since Mai has spent much of her season in China where the Panda King lives (in fact she lives with him) it of course snows occasionally. And right now in Missouri the cold is coming in and it's coming in hard. We all gotta dress up warm for it.
It's not surprising at all to see people dressed like Mai. Her outfit is rather casual as opposed to her purple quinpo. A blue jacket with faux fur trimming, black thermal pants, and Inuit boots.
She looks cozy, but you can tell by her face she's a bit cold too. (Better pull the hood up girl. XD)
Mai's used to cold weather however. And if it gets too cold...she's got that bushy tail of hers to keep warm. ;D (I think that's how Carmelita Fox keeps warm too. ^^)

I still consider Mai my most versatile of my characters. I can put her in many outfits and situations and she's fun to work with. Part of that being her somewhat simple design too.
