The Price of Being Queen

So I am about to officially begin my 'Third Queen of Summer;' contest.
The previous two winners were my characters Mai Ling and Lady Malmsteen. You can find their winning sculpts made by here:

Now we have the entries for this year's contest coming out in hopes to taking the crown this year.
Among them is returning contestant Lizzy McDinga and newcomer Shining Wolf. The two ladies having changed walk out of the Woman's locker room and await their roster to be called for the voting process.

Since Shining Wolf is new to this and Lizzy is a veteran contestant, she inquires more about this contest and what is at stake here. The idea of wearing a crown and being immortalized in a sculpture sounds rather appealing to Shiny. But Lizzy is quick to point out that there is a dark side to obtaining such fame.

Wearing the Queen of Summer crown apparently has some strange effect. Despite being fake; it's effects are real. Apparently wearing that crown long enough gives one a sense of being superior to others. Something Mai actually enjoyed. So when she gave it up to Lady Malmsteen last year, she slowly began to miss something. It's like a part of her went with it; along wit ha part of her mind apparently. 
It's like when one person enjoys a high amount of popularity and feels superior over others for some time; it doesn't last forever. And when they lose it, some people can lose a bit of their sanity as well.

For Mai, it apparently is even worse. Even though Shining Wolf seems doubtful it could really have an effect on someone, Lizzy spots Mai. And the effects of Mai truly losing her marbles are seen.
Rather than still think she is queen...Mai now believes, for reasons other than being on the beach.....that she is the character "Bloody Mary" from the musical and movie 'South Pacific.'
And she is singing the popular if not controversial pidgen laiden song 'Happy Talk.' Not surprisingly; this song is taken out of some productions of the musical due to it being culturally insensitive. And yet for many people who love the musical; something appears to be missing when this song isn't included.
For me personally; I'm not into musicals. This is me primarily knowing about it through my mom. (She loves musicals like this. XD) And she had the soundtrack playing while I lived with her. Happy Talk is no doubt her favorite of the South Pacific songs. 

The idea of Mai speaking pidgen isn't something that truly identifies her character. For one thing; she isn't an islander. She's from Hong Kong. Secondly, she speaks English very fluently. (It was drilled into her head by her master.) This is just the effect of Mai losing her mind a bit and dressing up like a character from a play to a point where she starts singing and talking like her. She couldv'e been anyone. Heck she could've been the General Stanley from 'Pirates of Penzance.' (I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General is a song I do like; since memorizing it's lyrics and doing up tempo versions of them is very impressive IMO.) 

Shining Wolf and Lizzy McDinga can only look at her in what can be best described as an "awkward stare." But it's not just them staring at Mai doing this caricature. Ruth Campbell and her BF Chris Fuzz are sitting down watching this. Neither can really seem to know what to make of this. I guess they're just being respectful and let Mai continue her own lunacy. XD Sarah Brendhart in the BG however looks on in shock. She knows Mai for some time; and wonders why she would choose to do this character; which for the regular Mai's taste is indeed rather insensitive.

With that said and done, a third queen still needs to be chosen. And Lizzy Mcdinga, Shining Wolf, Ruth Campbell and Sarah Brendhart are just a few of our contestants this year. And in case you're wondering; no. Neither Mai...or Chris for that matter XD....are among them.
