So I thought the end had come for our furry friend. Well maybe not. Here's what the new Crash game looks like for the wii. (Although I'm not sure I wanan shell out money for the Wii just for this. =-p)
The next Crash game is called 'Crash of the Titan's; an obvious pun on the movie 'Clash of the Titans'. And indeed there will be puns a plenty in this game; even some sly references to 'Brokeback Mountain'. O.o Huh....well other than a movie about gay cowboys (Minus the 'South Park' reference of them eating pudding) I'm not sure what else they can go on that; less you count all those strange relationships Crash and Cortex wetn through.
Here check it out for yourself:

Apparently we'll finally discover the secret behind the masks; and what Uka's deal with Cortex is. (Like you can't find that out on Wikipedia already.
The masks also underwent some change. Aku Aku apparently gained some weight. O.o While Uka uka...well..let's jsut say lost some weight. Try A LOT of weight.
Crash, oh pretty much the same. Except he's got tatoos on his arms now. I also noticed there's 7,000 lines of dialogue in this game. And Crash has a voice actor. Are they actually gonna make him talk in this game?> O.o
Coco, boy has she grown.
Crunch seems to have lost a little bit of his muscle. Guess he laid of the creotin.
More noticabely is how much taller Cortex got. And his head isn't as big as it used to be.
Now the biggest change happened to Tiny..who is no longer a thylacene apparently but an actual tiger!!! Maybe he evolved rapidly in this one. O.o But I dunno. Compared to the old Tiny, I wonder if an anthropomorphic tiger version of him was even called for. O.o Wonder how
So why am I interested in this all of a sudden? Well the masks' history is definite. aku Aku and ?Uka Uka's history is something I am interested in; because I developed a story some time ago where Uka ?Uka succeeds in overthrowing the world thanks to a new army of Elementals and different animals wearing them. (Currently being sketched out and may or may not be used. so far the resutls are pretty good.) to find out more about both the mask's history would indeed be helpful.
On another note: In my current Art History class I am working with a group on a feature artists: Mark Mothersbaugh. He is the genious behind Devo. But more related to Crash Bandicoot, he is the head of the company Mutato Muzika...the creative geniouses of the very VERY awesome Crash Bandicoot music of the first four games!! 'Crash Bandicoot 2' is without a doubt his finest work. Crash himself won't really be highlighted in our presentation, but an honorable mention is in order to cite Mark's work of having Mutato Muzika compose the score. They also did 'Jak and Daxter' and 'Sims'. Mark really had some friends in Naughty dog I see. O.o I could do the whole presentation on this if I could: but there's jsut so much you can say.
So...with that said the new Crash game might be interesting. But if I am familair with the string of let downs in the past, it probably isn't worht my money. But of course, finding out the history of the masks later on wikipedia is something I will look into.
Yes Crash, my little orange friend, I still like ya. XD

Still, somehow you got it right on the money. It's hard to get a great Crash game done right - even Twinsanity had great potential, yet it still felt a bit too easy in parts and a bit too frustrating in parts. For Titans though, I see that Radical has all these ideas ready to throw in, hoping to pull them off and utilise the capabilities of the Wii really well.
I'm more concerned if they end up retconning certain parts of the storyline, though after seeing similar results done to the past two Spyro console titles in spite of the games themselves being pretty good, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I would rather play a game that didn't quite feel like its predecessors but has everything going for it to make it an enjoyable experience rather than a game that has the charm of its predecessors but has been poorly executed.
That said, in spite of shaky fondness for Radical, I REALLY want Titans to do very well. I have all my fingers crossed that the game itself will be pulled off really fluently in spite of its change of style.
And if it does work out, I don't know whether to get it on the Wii or PS2. I've had a PS2 for six years and my game collection is still growing well (last game I got for it might have been Okami from two months ago), and we can also take into account that the console is still selling well in spite of the PS3 making its mark.
I don't want a PS3 unless its price goes down, hence I gained more interest in the Wii, however I don't want to feel ripped off when I get one thanks to the heavy dependancy on Nintendo background characters. It's bad enough putting Mario in a soccer title, but that could be me speaking because I can't play soccer videogames to save my life. For now the only game that's got my interest at the mo is Sonic and the Secret Rings, but we'll see when time starts to plow on a bit more.
Man, this comment is pretty lengthy. I'm sorry for clogging up your journal!!
About the references to Brokeback Mountain, I'll admit there are 3 things I'm worried about with that movie's lines being used in that game, 1 is what you've mentioned there about 'bringing the reference of Gay cowboys into a what-would-be 3+ rated game', 2, the movie is rated R for " sexuality, nudity, language and some violence" (According to imdb.com) and finally 3, because of that a lot of young gamers who may or have not seen the movie won't get the punchlines at all. That's no acception for an older gamer like me because I wouldn't mind watching Brokeback Mountain and see what all the fuss is about.
Yes, once again Crash has changed his wardrobe for a brand new look, haven't we had enough of that already? I mean, Spyro was given a new look for New Beginning and he still holds the same look for the new game: Eternal Night. I may actually have to admit that Crash's constant model changes are never going to stop and that we're going to have to get used to them, though surprisingly, people have responded well to the new Crash. I was in fits of laughter when I first saw the new change, but until I read into it a little more and saw the environments, I began to actually give my hopes up a little, because my money isn't going to be spent on a Crash game until it gets a "Great", because CTTR was rated a "Good" but it felt absolutely terrible to play and that was my poor mother's money wasted - I might consider getting it back for her.
In any case, I'm going to take a back seat and watch this until the Reviews start coming in. Although one part I do have to admit looks absolutely gorgeous are the concept arts. Have you seen the environment designs? They're incredible! Radical have got some 'radical' level artists working with them and they looks beautiful. I hear Spiralmouth for once ISN'T working on this - there's romours a remix version of the original Crash 3 themetune is going to be the themetune for this game and by-golly, I hope that's true because I think that would certainly bring Crash back to his routes. The music so far is sounding quite catchy.
About Crash having a voice, unfortunately to say I hear Radical are only reusing his voice they used for CTTR, but I don't know, I swear in some aspects I heard some new quotes but he was still babbling - I really don't know how I'd react if Crash actually had lines to speak. The audience has mixed opinions about this.
Overall, I can say I am impressed with the way the game is looking so far, the environments especially because they remind me of the environments from Crash 1. But it's a shame that Radical are refeering to the islands as "The Wumpa Islands", though I don't think they've ever had a name, I think they've always been called "The 3 Islands". I'm wondering if they'll put in any landmarks that'll remind us of the old days. I'd love to see a 'Sunset Vista/The Lost City' in the game because like your idea of Uka Uka and the masks, my story includes Lioness's home being at The Lost City. I've seen evidence of Temple interiors so that might be interesting to see.
A few days ago, a programme I normally watch called "Gamer TV" had the CotT preview on there and Kristen said that Radical got the idea of Crash 'jacking' the beasts from CTTR when the cars clashed. But I'm wondering if this form of gameplay might get boring after a while, couldn't you go through the game without jacking once?
Just an add-on, one thing I am mildly concerned about are some of the animations in the game, have you seen the footage of Crash sliding down this ramp of Aku? The animation is a little jagged, one moment he has his arms up and then one moment they're down his side again. Normally they'd be taken as glitches and that's one thing I can't stand. Another thing is the testures. Although the models are looking nice, I really, really don't like the texture. I heard in class that if anyone is going to make a texture, they have to make it at about 1024 x 1024 (I'm sure enough people have heard me say that before xD) and these looks to me like they're done at an extremely low resolution. I hear that the Wii version is going to have the best graphics though and I was thinking of getting a Wii, not for this but in general. First I gotta see if there are any games that I might want to own - next gen gaming, peops, come on! XD
So there's my 2 pence on the subject, now let's hope Crash actualy gets good reviews for once. I'm keeping an eye out on this and see how good/badly this comes out.
Yes, Crash, I still love you ;D.

Anyway, Lex Lang is Neo Cortex? I never knew that... HOLY CRAP GREG EAGLES IS IN IT TOO!
Never been much of a Crash fan, or Brokeback... So I'm probably going to skip this game, even if it's good.

I pledge to have absolutely no foreign relations with your sister. (I also pledge to suddenly sprout wings and fly.)
That said, I ain't raising any hope whatsoever unless I hear good things about this game.

And dare I say it, CTTR is better than this new game (well, the racing parts were totally kickass).
